When Your Groom Says “Psychedelic Rainbow,” You Buckle Up and Go Full Throttle

Q: What kind of couple plans a “psychedelic rainbow” wedding?
The best kind. When the groom literally said those words to me on our first call, I just about leapt out of my chair. This wasn’t going to be a wedding, it was going to be an experience. They were bold, they were creative, and they wanted something legendary. Lucky for them, pushing boundaries is kinda our thing.

Q: Where did you even begin with a wedding like this?
Color. All. The. Color.
The bride - a graphic designer and full-on artistic queen, designed her own letterpress invitations to set the tone. On wedding day she showed up rocking a blue-lined gown, glittery hair, ombre eyeshadow, and sparkly blue boots. Her bouquet? A multicolored brooch stunner heavy enough to count as a workout.
The groom didn’t hold back either: black velvet blazer, rainbow boutonniere, and a honeybee pin. The wedding party matched the vibe with coordinating colors, wild makeup, and flower-filled chrome clutches instead of bouquets, because statement piece energy.

Q: What was the ceremony like?
Shockingly traditional: a full Catholic service. But trust me, it was just the calm before the technicolor storm. The contrast made the reception reveal that much more jaw-dropping.

Q: Talk to us about the reception.
Oh, honey…Armature Works had never seen anything like this.
Cocktail Hour teased the vibe with rainbow accents, custom helmets instead of a guestbook (why not?), and colorful surprises tucked everywhere.
Then the seating reveal: a massive “Lights Out and Away We Go” wall (Formula 1 nod) covered in license plates, car keys, and track keychains as escort cards. Because yes, this rainbow wedding also leaned into racing. No rules, just pure joy.
And the ballroom? A color explosion. Each round table was a different hue. Long tables flowed in full ombre rainbow - florals, linens, menus, candles. Lounge spaces had neon-lit coffee tables. Two real F1 cars flanked the sweetheart table, which sat in front of a sequin wall glowing in rainbow uplights.

Q: Did the fun stop there?
Not even close. Guests hit flambé sundae and ice cream sandwich stations, sipped glowing cocktails at iridescent bars, and danced to a band that literally played on trash cans (Stomp-style - epic). There was a live painter. A packed dance floor. A design so immersive it felt like stepping into another world. Nobody wanted it to end.

Q: What was your “nailed it” moment?
Standing in the ballroom as guests walked in and audibly gasped. That’s when you know you’ve nailed it: turning chaos into cohesion, wild ideas into immersive reality. That’s what we do.
